One of the job fair’s goals was to help individuals learn about profession opportunities and how their abilities line up with them, employment Gentz stated.

Education is an essential advantage of attending a job reasonable, as about 40% of those who start with the TAP learn they’re “not ready to make that jump yet,” or employment they have seen the readily available chances and choose to continue serving, Gentz said.

“We see that basically every year,” he stated. “We want them to make an informed choice about their profession.”

Part of the education piece is learning more about finances, including credit reports, budget plans and “building a nest egg so you have something to deal with when it’s time to get out,” Handoe stated.

“Everybody’s going to get out of the Army at some point,” he said, “however while you remain in, are you doing whatever you can to prepare to go out?”

Job fairs likewise exist to help people with networking, seeing what individuals in the outdoors world are trying to find – including certifications, accreditations and education – and finding out about their working with practices, Handoe said.

“You must be doing prep work now for what it is you wish to do in the future down the road,” he stated.

That preparation work includes getting ready for job fairs.

“You need to enter into a hiring fair with a plan of what you’re going to do and not simply meander around,” Handoe said.

He explained that attendees should identify the business they want to talk to and research them ahead of time, to permit for informed conversations with employers.
